IllinoisHunter.com was created by a small group of Central Illinois sportsmen who wanted an easier way to find useful information about hunting in Illinois. Although a great deal of useful information is out there on the "Net," finding it is not always easy. For example, at http://dnr.state.il.us (the comprehensive Illinois Department of Natural Resources website,) useful hunting information can be buried several navigation levels deep. Instead of trying to relay a complicated web address to a buddy over the phone, it will be simpler just to send them to IllinoisHunter.com!

Our Publisher and Webmaster is Larry Dale of Petersburg, Illinois. A lifelong hunter, Larry retired in 2002 as the Director of Media Services at the University of Illinois at Springfield, where he also held faculty appointments in both MIS and Communications. He previously served five years as the charter Chapter President of the New Salem Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF,) and has over 20 years of previous experience working on Ducks Unlimited (DU) committees and with other sporting organizations. Current responsibilities also include serving as the Webmaster of the Menard Archers Archery Club, the Spoon River Chapter of NAVHDA, and the Springfield Tactical Shooters Club affiliated with USPSA.
