Chapter Scholarship News
Three Scholarships Awarded For 2008 Robby Wahlbrink, Steele Sullivan, and Zachary Holliday have been selected by The New Salem Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) as their 2008 Scholarship Recipients. Each scholarship includes a $250 cash award. Robby is a Senior at Athens High School, and has been selected as the Chapter Scholar. Since the local New Salem Longbeards Chapter is a "5-Star" NWTF Chapter, Robby will have the opportunity to advance in the state and national NWTF Scholarship competitions. (State and National awards are $1,000 and $10,000 respectively) Steele and Zachary are Seniors at PORTA High School in Petersburg, and both have been selected to receive local individual scholarships awarded in the memory of chapter member Richard (Joe) Eilks of Oakford. Richard (Joe) Eilks of Oakford was a long-time supporter of hunting and conservation organizations in Menard County. Additional funding for the 2008 Eilks Memorial Scholarships has been provided by the Eilks family, Richard McMahon, and Mark & Valerie Plunkett. The 2008 Scholarship Committee of the New Salem Longbeards Chapter consisted of Larry Dale (Chairman,) George Staab, and Chris Hinton.
